Its getting cold!

Its  been a while since my lat post. A lot has happened, we bought a house and have been dealing with the ups and downs that go with owning a home. But despite all the ups and downs it feels great to be in our own home. A word to the wise, make sure you find a reputable professional home inspector that will cover everything. And when you get the inspection back, make sure you go over it word for word and dont be afraid to ask the current owners to fix something.

We hosted our first Thanksgiving with family and friends. The food was great. My husband is a genius with the turkey!

This past weekend we put up the Christmas tree. We had talked about getting a real tree but after recalling childhood memories of having to water the tree everyday, vacuuming up needles and cleaning up tree needle cat barf, we decided to go with an artificial tree. Initially we went to Hobby Lobby to get a tree. They were on sale for 50% off. Little did we know that 50% off would get you are $200 tree. Not exactly in our budget. So off to Walmart it was. We found a beautiful pre-lit tree that was in our budget.

We also had to buy a heater for our sons room. Since his room is above the garage, its quite a bit colder on those chilly nights. The first heater we bought, Holmes Quartz Tower Heater, was not a good choice. If you want to use it for heating a garage or workshop then its great. But if you want it for a bedroom or someplace quiet, its way too loud for that. It rattles like crazy when it first comes on. So this weekend we went to Lowe’s and bought a new one. This one is similar to what we bought, DeLonghi Oil Filled Heater. Any oil filled heater will be quieter than an electric blower heater. The heater is awesome. Its quiet and it heats up quick. Once the desired temperature is reached, it maintains the temperature very well. We are very happy with it.

Its been a while…

Its been a while since my last post. I apologize to my loyal fans, if I have any.

Good news is we are moving to Missouri in May! Blake was accepted for a position with the Missouri Air National Guard. We are so excited to be moving closer to family. Preparations are underway to make the move as easy as possible, as easy as can be when you are patiently waiting the arrival of your first child. Any day now, well 5 weeks, give or take a few days. Travel plans depend on how and when this baby wants to come into the world. Wish us luck!

Sad story

Blake and I come home from our birthing class to find a cat that had been hit by a car, still alive on the side of the road. Of course I go into hysterics and start BAWLING while online trying to find a 24hour emergency vet to take the cat to. I found one and through gushing tears, punched the address in the GPS only to find out 20 miles down the road that the GPS was taking us to Monterey! Not sure how that happened. Must have been the pregnancy emotions taking over the logical part of my brain. So while I managed to drive safely, Blake held the poor wheezing cat in one arm and called 411 to find another, closer, vet. We finally made it to an emergency vet just as the cat began to fight the her last fight. The vet informed us the cat did not have a microchip so no owner could be located. They told us the cat had severe internal and head trauma. We would have been able to afford a couple hundred dollars in medical bills to save the cat, but when the vet said thousands, I bawled even more as we walked out the door.  Lesson1: get your pet microchiped so if something does happen, they have a way to get a hold of you. Both my cats are microchiped. Lesson 2: dont let the hysterical pregnant, tired chick try to operate a GPS. Lesson 3: know where your local 24hour emergency vet is.

Took my 1st Math test today. I passed with a 75%. I’m OK with that considering half of the material I have never work on before. Had to buy a graphing calculator, something else I have never work on. I got a good deal on Amazon though, TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator. I also had to get a new desk so I have more room to spread out and work. We got the desk at staples TechniMobili Compact Retractable Computer Desk. Here is a cute one from Amazon, you know I love Amazon. Woodgrain Streamline Computer Station Desk. If all goes well, I will graduate in May with my Associates then move on to University of Phoenix to get my Bachelors.

Exercise!

It took me a while to find a decent swim suit, but thanks to Motherhood Maternity at the Great Mall in Milpitas, I found a cute one. After finding the swim suit, I went to my first water aerobics class at the YMCA in Cupertino. It was awesome! It felt good so good to get in the pool and feel weightless. Chatted with some great ladies about cooking. I hope to swap some recipes in the future. I also felt good knowing I was getting beneficial exercise for me and my baby. I think its time for a nap now.

Half Moon Bay CA

Sunday Blake and I went to Half Moon Bay and had a little picnic on the beach. The sun was shining and even though the wind made it a bit chilly, it was still so nice to be on the beach. It was a nice break after Blake had been working 10 hour days without a day off.

Half Moon Bay is one of my favorite places to go. We love to grab a bite to eat and a beer at the Half Moon Bay Brewery. They have live music just about every night too. There are tons of other wonderful places to eat. Princeton Seafood Company is another good one.

New Mexican Restaurant

Just had dinner at Dona Maria Mexican Restaurant in Santa Clara on Homestead. Very good food. They just opened this location on the 2nd of January I think. To start, the chips and salsa were bangn’! The salsa was tasty and spicy. The chips were nice and thick without all the grease. I had the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Blake had the regular burrito, minus the tomatoes and beans…he’s not a fan of those. He said the burrito was good but the meat was a bit over done. The service was fast and friendly. We will definitely go back, even better that its within walking distance.
